Flower for the Day Hoya 7-8-2020

We are slowly donating our indoor plants. Two that I will keep are also plants that love the outdoor heat in the summer: the hoya and the night blooming cereus. The hoya celebrates its outdoor life by blooming sometimes several times. This year it has put out two exotic flowers already.

It likes  shade and plenty of water as it thrives in the summer heat.  Hoya carnosa is also called the wax plant and the porcelainflower. The bloom is made up of star shaped hanging flowers grouped in an umbel. The surface of the flowers is covered in tiny hairs.
