Sherman's Gravesite and Willie 12-4-12

Yesterday Bill Sheridan and I drove to North St Louis where his grandfather and grandmother are buried in Belfontaine Cemetary. Then we drove next door to the Catholic Calgary Cemetary. It is here that General William Tecumseh Sherman of Civil War fame is buried with his family. Finding the site was a fun treasure hunt.

Also  in the family plot is Willie, Sherman's son who died

of typhoid  fever in Memphis:

Sherman's men had this monument built. Of interest is the left upper ledge. 

Bill and I agreed that we should go hunting for sites in cemetary's more often.

Dancing at Meriweathers Restaurant 11-26-12

After dinner at Meriweathers with Jan, Lee, Debbie, and Rich,I went to the Men's Room where this dance was going on. It was hard to leave them.

Multnomah Falls 11-25-12

After major discussion we chose to go on an outing to Multnomah 

Falls including a drive along the Columbia River. 

The weather was great despite some spray from the falls.

As you can see it is moist at Multnohah Falls.

Family Thanksgiving in Portland 11-23-12

We  enjoyed a family Thanksgiving dinner at the Jeff Sessions Home in Lake Oswego Oregon.As you can see Jeff is looking great and so is Jan.

Mild Fall at Aspen Lake 11-10-12

We enjoyed the extended mild fall at the lake this year, 
including a snooze on the beach.

A Day in the Country

South of Innsbrook is our new favorite antique store in Hopewell

(a "peopled place" not the village) where we found this on the wall.

I try to keep my jewels from tinker, pooka, and black hearted stranger.

Daniel Boone's Initial Gravesite 11-3-2012

On a bluff overlooking the Missouri River near Marthasville is the initial gravesite of 

Daniel Boone and his wife.  Rebecca died in 1813 and Daniel in 1820. They were 

removed to Frankfurt Kentucky in  1845.  The gravesite is not located near the Daniel

Boone home on the Femme Osage River.

Path to the Creek Bed 10-25-12

This fall I completed a path down to the creek bed that winds from Rieth

Terrace along Daugherty Ferry turning south along Ballas Road to the

Frank Lloyd Wright house bridge. The runoff from rains through the years

has taken the creek bed down to bed rock and there are many 

boulders along the way.

When there are heavy rains there is quite a current 
and small ponds are formed.

  

In this area there is a small spring where water seeps up from a crack in the base.
