As you can see many flowers come off each stem.

Flower for the Day Crown Beard 7-27-2020
In several of my wildflower gardens the prairie flower crown beard (Verbesina helianthoides) grows like a field of corn high, straight and yellow topped. The species, in the aster family, is also called yellow ironweed, wingstem, and gravel weed. It has a rectangular stem, lance like leaves, and is topped by a very messy yellow flower.
