NWP Starting I August 21-23, 2018

In August and September of 2017 we left for a voyage through the Northwest Passage spanning the continent from Greenland to Alaska.

From St Louis on the day of the first total eclipse of the sun since 1440 (August 21,2018) we flew to Montreal, Canada. Here is the city from Mount Royal with the St. Lawrence River in the background.

From Montreal, on August 23,2018) we flew to Kangerlusuaq on the western coast of Greenland where we boarded our
ship, Le Boreal. Kangerlussuaq was the town where we had finished our 2015 trip to Greenland. The Captain of Le Boreal describes her as a mega-yacht. There were 174 passengers and 144 crew. At all times we were well cared for.

We entered and left the ship from the rear in large life  boats to start and end the trip and in Zodiac raft boats to go ashore during the trip. The cabins were tight but comfortable and each one had its own outside balcony.

The dimensions were painted on a plate by the bridge.

The heroes of our adventure are myself and  Dan West from St. Louis.
