It is bearded bearded beggar tick (Bidens aristosa). It has many common names none of which are inspiring:
western tickseed, showy tickseed, swamp marigold, and Yankee lice. It is a native annual in the aster family.
There are two large stands.
The leaf blades are lanceolate as well as lanciniately pinnatisect. Who could believe it? It has numerous yellow flower heads with 5-10 ray florets and 12-40 disc florets.
