We have had our phlox (Phlox subulatea )for over 40 years. It is also known as creeping phlox, moss pink, and mountain phlox. It is an evergreen perennial which forms mats of hairy linear leaves. It is beginning to look sketchy as a whole but is spectacular up close. Should I rip it out and start over or just enjoy it as it ages with more water and a little fertilizer?  The five petalled flower is awesome.
