Flower for the Day Red Hot Poker 7-4-25

Here is a celebration of Independence Day, red hot poker (Kniphofia uvaria). It  is a genus of perennial flowering plants in the family Asphodelaceae, first described as a genus in 1794. All species of Knifofia are native to Africa.. Common names include tritoma, torch lily and poker plant. It is as close as I can get to fireworks.

 

All plants produce spikes of upright, brightly coloured flowers well above the foliage, in shades of red, orange and yellow. The flowers produce copious nectar while blooming and attract bees and songbirds.

 Hounded by deep thoughts

  

 Like red hot pokers burning

 Through pain to gain peace.
