My grandparents and parents celebrated holidays with many specialized decorations. Each year we had table and place setting turkeys for Thanksgiving and bunnies for Easter. I still have a Christmas favorite of my mothers which was a pair of hollow core lead reindeer from the late 1930's. As I unpack my declining number Christmas ornaments I am delighted when these reindeer show up. One of the deer has lost an ear which makes it even more special to me. They are heavy and provide a feeling of solemnity to my mantel. This image is interesting as I was able to get the deer on the 'snow' of the kitchen table with naturalmid December afternoon sunlight. No special canned lighting for me. And the shadows lengthen quicklyas the sun moves.
