Don's Blog St Vrain Mountain Trail 8-12-21

Today we hiked on the StVrain Mountain Trail in the Roosevelt National Forest near Allenspark.

It starts out in a beautiful aspen forest.

After a brief  easy trek we entered  a Wilderness Area.

The tail became steep and rocky and much more difficult.

As the trees turned to shrubs as we neared timberline we came to an open meadow.  We ate lunch and I realized  that my tank was out of gas so we began our difficult descent down the very rocky path. All went well until we neared the parking lot where I slipped
while ducking under a large tree and my daypack got caught on it. I bandaged my skinned knee and was taken to the Meeker Park Lodge
where I was treated by (or to) a Dr Pepper. Another great day.
