Don's Blog Red Dirt Muic Concert 8-2-16

We are in Estes Park Colorado and I went to a concert by Bob Smallwood from Glen Haven. He and his group played Red Dirt Music. He was a wizard on the guitar but sang a little flat, making up for it with his personality. Red Dirt Music is a music gene that gets its name from the color of the soil found in Oklahoma. Stillwater,Oklahoma is considered the center of Red Dirt music. There is a Texas sub genre as well. Country legends Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson have been associated with the Texas style while singer/songwriter Bob Childers is recognized as the father of Oklahoma Red Dirt music.
