Because of the  scorching heat I have had to move several box turtles from the 

flower gardens to the woods. They seem to love the Bog Daddy Hosta which collect water from the sprinkler.

FFTD Bonus Double Red Flags - Illegal to go into the water

We have been in Santa Rosa Beach Florida on the panhandle. There had been two drownings and three rescues the previous week due to rip currents.  The beaches were closed for two days when we got there. Life guards with their dread whistles patrolled the beach regularly to "save " us from ourselves.The second day the Walton County Sheriff drove by slowly on the beach and drawled, "Y'all be safe." Who could argue with that?

Shasta Daisies  Leucanthemun x superbum. These daisies are larger and last longer than the more vulgar ox-eyed daisy. It was originated in 1890 by horticulturist Luther Burbank and named after the snowy banks of Mt. Shasta.

Mystery Flower on the day after the Summer Solstice.

Yellow petals and yellow disks.There is a whole wildflower gardengarden of these flowers which arise on a thick unbranched leafed stem. They grow to  over four feet tall. They could be yellow oxe-eyed daisies but thestem seems way too thick.Please help me here.               

              Addendum: Suggestions included Senecio and Golden Crownbeard but the best fit was Golden aster.

Another Mystery flower: This exceptional miniature 
flower is in grass growing in the wildflower garden. Without 
my Macro lens I didn't even see the polka dots.Please help me here.

Addendum: Three people correctly identified this as Deptford pink 

(Dianthus armeria). Deptford was the area in England where it was 

once common. Thanks for playing

Penstemon  Also Beard Tongue. The protruding hairy tongue is a staminoid (an 

infertile stamen). Note that the flower head itself is also hairy.
