Don'Blog The Swimming Pool at Laumeier 6-3-16

Our son Chris was in town briefly last week-end. Friday we went to Laumeier Sculpture Park to visit our favorite swimming pool. Chris has a long standing swimming hole project and we love this pool at Laumeier. It is very evocative and changes through the years as it slowly disintegrates - it is a beautiful visit to the past and the present. It is the ruins of the 1930's swimming pool of the Hedenkamp family's Orchard Valley Estate brought  back to us by the landscaping of artist Mary Miss in 1985. As we go through the years it continues to age with us but always takes us back to a time we have not forgotten.

The pool.

Nature continues to reclaim.

It's been going on so long that lichens have started to grow.

I had never seen water in the pool but here is the rain filled pool of the artist's rendition.

I have to admit that one of my dreams is to come in one night and fill the pool cracks with concrete and fill the pool with water
for old times sake.
