Flower for the Day 6-19-12

Verbena  Verbena bonariensis. Also Purple vervain. In Ancient Egypt it was called Tears of Isis. In the William Faulkner short story, The Odor of Verbena, it is used 
symbolically as "the only scent that can be smelled above the scent of horses and courage",  similar to the use of honeysuckle in The Sound  and the Fury.
